Joseph Debigare, 84, of Clark Street, Westerly, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday afternoon, August 8, 2017 at Apple Rehab/Clipper Home of Westerly. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Claire N. (Brodeur) Debigare of Westerly, his son, Kevin Debigare, husband of Robin, of Richmond, his daughter, Debora A. Debigare of Westerly, his daughter, Joanne Johnson, wife of Paul, of Westerly, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Laurie E. Whipple.

Mr. Debigare was born in Westerly on June 2, 1933, the son of the late Emile and Ann (Callaghan) Debigare. Joseph was a corporal in the United States Army, serving in Germany and Korea during the Korean War. He went on to work as a machinist at Davis-Standard, Posi-Seal, Emerson and Fisher Controls. He was a Past Captain in the Westerly Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Rhode Island Ones. Joseph also was the Past Commander at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 1265 of Pawcatuck, a member of the Knights of Columbus and an usher at St. Pius X Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. There are no calling hours. Burial with full military honors will be held at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
