Rita M. (Chiaradio) Capalbo, 79, of Westerly, passed away peacefully on January 30th. She was born on March 12, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Suzie (Murano) Chiaradio. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Frank J. Capalbo.
Rita received her early education at Immaculate Conception School and was a graduate of St. Xavier Catholic High School in Providence, taking the train each day into the city.
She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
She married in 1958 and held many positions throughout the years while raising her children. Rita’s greatest joy were her grandchildren. She also loved to cook and share her delicious dishes with everyone.
She leaves her three sons, Gerard (and wife Holly), Anthony, and Joseph; two grandchildren, Emylie (and husband Joseph Comforti) and Jonathan Capalbo and her great grandson, Brooks Orin Comforti. She also leaves a brother, Philip Chiaradio (and wife Claudia).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. A mass of christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10 am. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 181 Putnam Pike, Johnston, RI 02919.
