Louis J. Morrone Sr.

Louis J. Morrone Sr., 91, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Mr. Morrone was born in Westerly on February 4, 1931, the son of the late John J. and Florence (Siciliano) Morrone.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Eileen M. (Spino) Morrone of Westerly, his son, Louis J. Morrone Jr. and his wife Christine (Whewell) of Westerly, his daughter, Mary Lou Monahan and her husband David of Charlestown, RI and his son Gerard Morrone of New Mexico, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Louis was veteran of the Korean War. After his service he attended Bryant College receiving a bachelor’s degree and then pursuing a career at Electric Boat in Groton, CT for 35 years, retiring as a publication’s supervisor.

He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an usher and scout leader. He was on the bishops lay committee with The Boy Scouts of RI and was presented with the St George Award.

For over 30 years he looked forward to his yearly camping trip up north with his friends Charlie and Artie.

When he wasn’t hunting for pinale, he thoroughly enjoyed working his property, maintaining the pool, and the time spent with his grandkids and great grandkids.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3-5 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
