Life Legacy


Laurie J. Lamb, 58, of Babcock Road, North Stonington, CT, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She is survived by her mother, Shirley R. (Rook) Miller of Weekapaug, her companion of over three decades, Colburn Graves of North Stonington, her sister, Sheryl L. Caswell and companion Fred Robbins of Pawcatuck, her sister and brother-in-law, Karen L. and William E. “Bill” Underhill II of Pawcatuck, her nephew, Zachary R. Lamb and his wife Nikki of Westerly, her nephew, William E. Underhill III of Pawcatuck, her nephew, Daniel R. Caswell and his companion Mariana of Westerly, her nephew, Bryan J. Caswell of Mystic, her nephew, Christopher Caswell of Pawcatuck, and five grandnieces and grandnephews, Alyssa S. Lamb, Ella L. Lamb, Avery J. Lamb, Brynn M. Lamb and Lincoln G. Caswell – all of Westerly. She was pre-deceased by her father, Richard F. Lamb.

Miss Lamb was born in Westerly on April 25, 1953, the daughter of the late Richard F. Lamb and Shirley R. (Rook) Miller of Weekapaug. She attended the Pinepoint School in Stonington and the Williams School of New London, the graduating Class of 1971. Laurie went on to earn her Psychology Degree at Brown University in Providence, graduating Class of 1975. She went on to work at Ship Analytics, the Ocean Community YMCA, the South Shore Mental Health Clinic and within the Westerly School System. Her retirement was due to illness.

Laurie loved life, people, her education and the outdoors. She was a very caring person and would help anyone. She sang in the Community Chorus of Westerly for 30 years, only stopping because of illness. One of her favorite spots was reading at the Wheeler Library in North Stonington. She also loved traveling with her best friend Colburn and they went to as many countries as they could, along with cities in the United States. Laurie was also involved with the Westerly Track Club, the Mohegan Striders, the RI Road Runners and the Mystic YMCA.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 1:00 pm at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. Funeral services are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
