Audrey E. (Drage) Mills

Audrey Eleanor (Drage) Mills, 82, beloved wife of the late Peter Mills; passed away on September 18th 2017 in Mystic, CT. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses, John and Gill Drage, Keith and Sylvia Drage and David and Sheila Drage and predeceased by Dennis Drage. In addition she is also survived by her children Eleanor Thompson and her husband Nick, Ian Mills and his wife Barbara and Brian Mills and his partner Rodney Davis. She also leaves grandchildren Paul, Jenna, Ashley, Amber and her husband Jeff, Holly, Kerry and Sean, and great grandchildren Kaden, Iris, Madelynn and Bailey. She likewise will be missed by niece and nephews David, Neil, Martin, Karl, Carl, Jacque, Andrew, Peter and their families.

Audrey was born in Coventry, England on October 16th, 1934 to the late William and Gertrude (Radburn) Drage. During World War II, she, her parents and siblings experienced the horrors of war and lost everything when their home was bombed in the Blitz of Coventry on November 19, 1940. In the 1950s, she worked for a short time as a shop assistant in a pharmacy and then for the Alvis Motor Company, before meeting her husband Peter, marrying and becoming a home maker. 

While supporting Peter’s international sales career Audrey was well known for her hosting of guests from around the world. In 1982 Audrey and Peter made the decision to move to the USA with Ian and Brian. They settled in West Warwick, and became US citizens. Soon after, they were joined by Eleanor, Nick and their family. 

Audrey and Peter co-owned APM Services, US distributor for AUTOGIL, and Stellar Engineer. During retirement, Audrey also worked as an associate at Walmart in Warwick.

Through the years they also lived in Warwick and Westerly, RI and finally in Mystic, CT.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in memory of Audrey and Peter at the Met High School in Providence, RI to benefit graduating seniors who will be pursuing careers in engineering.
