Jeane (Roger) Dandrea, 95, formally of Westerly, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. She was born on May 22, 1930, to the late Alexander Bruce Roger and Amy Cruse Roger both recent immigrants from Scotland and England respectively.
Jeane lived her entire childhood at 8 Summer St. in Westerly. Her childhood was filled with riding bicycles, playing tag, hide and seek and roller skating on the sidewalk with the 'Summer St. Gang'. She carried a love of roller skating into her teenage years, spending many weekends at the Rollerdome on the Post Rd. It was here that she met her first husband, George Hancock, a sailor stationed at Quonset Point. She and George married in 1948 and began raising their family in that very same house on Summer St. Jeane was an avid lover of the sun, sea and sand, spending many, many summer days at East Beach, Napatree Point and Misquamicut. She will be remembered for her homemade cheesecake and brownies.
Jeane leaves behind two daughters; Diana Jones and Karen McHugh, four grandchildren; Stacie Salo, Michelle Aybar, Brian Jones and Michael McHugh, ten great-grandchildren and various nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Roger Rozinski and her brother, Alexander Bruce Roger, Jr.
Jeane will be interred at Riverbend Cemetery on August 28th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeane's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @ stjude.org
