Nancy A. (Arruda) Heinold, 85, of Lawton-Foster Road South, Hopkinton, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She is survived by her husband, Edward F. Heinold of Hopkinton, her son, John E. Heinold of Hopkinton, her daughter, Debra A. Kostinden, wife of James J., of Holliston, MA, her grandson Matthew, her brother, John Aruda and her brother, Raymond Arruda. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Marjorie and her brothers Gary and Richard Arruda.
Mrs. Heinold was born in Stonington, CT on September 21, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Irene (Moniz) Arruda. Following high school, Nancy was employed as a secretary at American Velvet of Stonington, CT at which time she went on a blind date and fell in love at first sight with her husband. Ed and Nancy were married in 1957 in Stonington. Besides raising three lovely children with her husband in Milford, CT, Nancy was involved with the Girl Scouts, volunteering at Milford Hospital, baking wedding cakes for friends and family and teaching catechism to name a few.
After 30 years away from home, she and her husband returned to their home area in Hopkinton. Next to her devoted love for her husband and children, Nancy also loved all animals, Rod Stewart (she had to hear at least one of his songs per day), watching golf and last but definitely not least, spending time with her grandson Matthew.
Through the years, Nancy had been helping at Immaculate Conception Church of Westerly in their kitchen, giving holiday Easter season daily breakfast parties. She also gave celebration parties for newly conferred parish priest’s. She was also a Mass responsive reader and a member of the “Legion of Mary” club. Due to general health problems, she eventually had to retire from doing what she loved to do. She did however continue to supply communion visits to the home bound after Saturday evening Mass, until the pandemic. Nancy and her husband Ed were happily married for 65 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. There are no calling hours.
