June 18, 1950 ~ February 23, 2022 (age 71)

Obituary

Samuel A. Bliven Jr. born on June 18, 1950, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022, at the Westerly Hospital after a 10-month battle with Sarcomatoid Variant cancer. He was raised in North Stonington, CT, the son of the late Camella (Capalbo) Bliven and the late Samuel A. Bliven Sr. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary G. (Pucci) Bliven for 40 years.

Sam learned to be a hard worker from an early age, starting from humble beginnings on his family chicken farm in North Stonington. Shortly after high school, he began his career as a plumber with D. B. Sweet only later to open his own business, Sam Bliven Jr. Plumbing and Heating Inc. in 1980. His business grew and he eventually acquired both A & B Oil Inc. and Northeast Temperature Control Inc. Sam loved his customers, and his family would like to thank each and every one of them for their loyalty and trust.

In his spare time, he enjoyed the company of family and friends, attending car shows, home shows, and helping others. Sam did many things for the community; Sam Bliven Jr. Plumbing & Heating Inc. sponsored a little league baseball team for many years as well as a sponsor of a local race car. He especially loved sharing his Hess truck collection with his grandson Ace and his great nephew Vincent Parker. He served on the town Building Board of Appeals for many years until recently.

Sam is survived by his children Amanda E. Bliven, Andrea J. Bliven, Aaron S. Bliven, daughter-in-law Erica (Delaney) Bliven and his much-loved grandson Ace. He is also survived by his siblings Eric Bliven (Ann Marie), Sandra Bliven (Lois) and Paul Bliven (Kim).
